Set after Captain America: Civil War, the movie shows the events leading up to Natasha’s death in Avengers: Endgame.
Plot
Natasha Romanoff is forced to confront the darker parts of her past when a dangerous conspiracy arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
Review
Black Widow is an excellent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The storyline is a little disjointed at times, but overall, it’s an engaging and emotional movie. Scarlett Johansson gives an excellent performance, bringing depth and nuance to her portrayal of Natasha. The supporting cast, which includes Florence Pugh as Yelena and David Harbour as Alexei, also delivers solid performances.
The action sequences are exciting and well choreographed, with a particular standout being the car chase scene in Budapest. The film’s humor is also well-timed and adds a nice levity to the darker parts of the story.
One minor complaint is that the movie feels a bit unnecessary, given that it takes place after Natasha’s death in Endgame. However, Black Widow provides a satisfying conclusion to the character’s story and sets up future movies in the MCU.
Conclusion
Overall, Black Widow is a well-made Marvel movie that’s definitely worth a watch. The action, comedy, and emotional depth make for a satisfying cinema experience. If you’re a fan of the MCU, you won’t be disappointed.
